![]() ![]() While fraternities had to say goodbye to many of their brothers going overseas to war, they tried to keep the men on campus positive by holding events and parties for all to attend. ![]() SigEp and Alpha Kappa Pi agreed to share the Alpha Kappa Pi house during war time. Pi Lambda Phi, Delta Tau Delta, and Sigma Phi Epsilon were forced to leave their houses when the Navy arrived to provide additional housing. An invitation to join Phi Beta Kappa recognizes and honors exceptional academic achievement in the arts and sciences. Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house, the last place Antonio Tsialas 23 was seen alive, has had its recognition indefinitely revoked by the University. Navy students were allowed to rush fraternities under certain rules, separate from the ‘civilian’ students. The IFC and the Navy administration came together to determine the rushing rules. Once the Navy plan for the school was enacted, Vice President Creese stated that he believed it would be up to the fraternities to carry on all of the social life at Stevens, in attempts of keeping spirits up. In Fall 1942, Chi Phi held a scrap metal drive on campus to help contribute the need for war supplies. Some things that were enacted were a cooperative buying plan, letting non fraternity men live in the fraternity houses, limiting social events, especially outdoor events due to the gas shortage. In order to help with the war efforts, Stevens IFC met to discuss how they could help. Phi Kappa Psi, also called 'Phi Psi,' is an American collegiate social fraternity founded at Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on February 19, 1852. Stevens Greek life was also affected by these changes. Stevens campus was completely transformed during World War II. ![]()
